UAE mobile hospital to go into operation within days in S. Sudan Abu Dhabi, 11th July 2009 (WAM) -- A third UAE relief plane carrying medical equipment and supplies for the Emirates World Humanitarian Mobile Hospital has landed in Juba, south of Sudan, as part of the Red Crescent Authority's campaign to deliver curative and preventive services to the underprivileged patients in southern Sudan. Dr. Adel Al Shameri, Executive Director of the hospital, said the health facility would receive patients within the few coming days after the medical equipment were installed. ''The fittings carried by the plane included a specialised cardiac unit with Electrocardiography (EKG), sophisticated diagnostic devices for the laboratory, electric shock system, electrical jolt system, sterilization unit, dental clinic and pharmacy. ''These medical supplies will run the 25-bed mobile hospital for at least four months,''he added. He disclosed that an international medical voluntary team would start descending on Juba as of next Week to operate the hospital in coordination with the Juba teaching hospital. Captain Hadi Al Mansouri, leader of the technical team of the hospital, said all equipment, stand-by generators and ancillary services would be in place within the coming two days. ''All units of the hospitals, particularly the intensive care unit and operations theatre, will be completely sterilized before going into service,''he affirmed. © Copyright Emirates News Agency (WAM) 2009.
