The director of Ethiopian Telecommunication Agency, Eshetu Alemu, has defected and sought Asylum in the USA.
Mr Eshetu came to the U.S. to attend a 15-day conference in executive telecommunication management. Eshetu is the second high level Ethiopian official to defect to the U.S. this month.
Before him, In early July, the deputy information minister, Ermias Legesse also sought asylum immediately after he arrived in Washington for an official trip.
